Chocolate Calcite is a banded variety of calcite with a colour palette ranging from milky mocha to deep espresso. The stone forms when trace amounts of iron, manganese, or organic matter tint successive layers of calcite as it crystallizes.
Those layers build up like tree rings, producing the distinctive chocolate and cream stripes that make each piece one-of-a-kind. While white calcite can be found on every continent, chocolate calcite is mainly found in Mexico, Pakistan and Brazil.
