Larimar is a rare blue variety of pectolite, treasured for her dreamy colours that range from pale sky blue to deep turquoise with white marbling that often resembles sunlight dancing on water. She is found only in the Dominican Republic where she forms in volcanic rock cavities, making her a true rarity of the mineral world. With a softness of 4.5 to 5 on the Mohs scale she needs careful handling yet her beauty has made her a much-loved gemstone for jewellery and spiritual use alike.
