GEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Lapis Lazuli is a striking deep-blue stone often flecked with golden pyrite, giving her the look of a star-filled night sky. She belongs to the cubic crystal system and measures 5 to 6 on the Mohs hardness scale. Her composition is a sodium calcium aluminosilicate with sulphur and calcite often present. She has been mined for thousands of years, most famously in Afghanistan, but also in Chile, Russia, Italy, the USA and throughout the Middle East. Revered in ancient Egypt as a royal stone, she was powdered for cosmetics and treasured as a symbol of power, truth and immortality.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES

Physical

She is thought to be beneficial for the immune system, blood pressure, hearing loss, insomnia and migraines. Lapis Lazuli is also associated with alleviating depression, easing anxiety and regulating female hormones, particularly during PMS and menopause.
