Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline variety of quartz, characterised by her smooth, waxy lustre and range of soft colours, from pale blue to white, grey and even soft pink. She forms in nodules or cavities within volcanic rocks and is composed of microscopic quartz crystals, giving her a uniform, fine-grained appearance. Chalcedony can be found worldwide, with notable deposits in Brazil, India, Madagascar and the United States.
