GEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Fluorite is one of the most colourful minerals, found in shades of purple, green, yellow, blue and clear - often banded in striking combinations. She is composed of calcium fluoride and commonly forms in cubic or octahedral crystals with a glassy lustre. With a hardness of 4 on the Mohs scale she is relatively soft yet highly prized for her vivid hues and remarkable fluorescence under ultraviolet light. Fluorite occurs worldwide with important deposits in China, Mexico, the United States and the United Kingdom.
